Swimming Pool Waterproofing in Mumbai

A swimming pool holds a large volume of treated water permanently, often on a podium or terrace above occupied floors. Any leak means water loss, chemical imbalance and damage to the structure and rooms below.

We waterproof new pools during construction and repair leaking pools in residential complexes, clubs and hotels.

What is swimming pool waterproofing?

Swimming pool waterproofing protects the reinforced concrete pool shell, the balancing tank and the surrounding deck. A typical system combines a watertight concrete shell, crystalline treatment, and a flexible cementitious membrane under the tile adhesive, with detailed sealing at inlets, outlets, lights, skimmers and the pool edge.

Pools on podiums and terraces also need the surrounding deck and the expansion joints to be waterproofed as part of the overall system.

Benefits

  • Prevents water loss and damage to structure and spaces below
  • Detailed sealing at fittings, the most common leak points
  • Systems compatible with pool chemicals and tile finishes
  • Water testing before tiling

Common problems and applications

Problems it solves

  • Falling water level not explained by evaporation
  • Damp walls or ceilings in rooms beneath or beside the pool
  • Leaks around lights, inlets, skimmers and drains
  • Cracks in the pool shell or balancing tank
  • Hollow or detached pool tiles

Where it is used

  • Residential society pools at ground, podium or terrace level
  • Hotel and club pools
  • Balancing tanks and plant rooms
  • Water features and fountains

Our swimming pool waterproofing process

  1. Leak investigation

We monitor water loss, check fittings and inspect the shell and balancing tank to locate leaks.

  2. Drain and prepare

The pool is drained, tiles are removed where needed and the shell is cleaned and repaired.

  3. Seal fittings and cracks

Fittings are sealed with compatible products; cracks are injected or treated.

  4. Apply waterproofing

Crystalline treatment and a flexible membrane are applied to walls and floor, with fabric at corners and fittings.

  5. Water test

The pool is filled and monitored before tiling.

  6. Tile and commission

Tiles are fixed with compatible adhesive and grout, and the pool is commissioned.

Materials and systems used

Crystalline waterproofing
Reduces permeability of the concrete shell.
Flexible cementitious membranes
Applied under tile adhesive.
Sealants and fitting collars
For lights, inlets, skimmers and drains.

Why professional waterproofing is important

Pools leak at fittings and junctions far more often than through the shell. A professional system details every fitting, uses products compatible with pool chemicals, and is water-tested before tiling. Repairing a leak after tiling means draining the pool and removing finishes.

Why choose us

Fitting-level detailing
Every light, inlet, skimmer and drain is sealed into the system.
Podium and terrace experience
Pool waterproofing integrated with the surrounding deck.
Tested before tiling
The pool is filled and monitored before finishes.
Leak investigation for existing pools
We locate the source before recommending a drain-down.

Frequently asked questions

How is swimming pool waterproofing carried out?
  1. The pool is drained and the reinforced concrete shell is cleaned, repaired and checked for cracks.
  2. Inlets, outlets, lights, skimmers and other fittings are sealed with compatible collars and sealants.
  3. The surface is prepared and primed, and corners are coved.
  4. A crystalline treatment and a flexible cementitious waterproofing membrane are applied to the walls and floor, with reinforcing fabric at corners and fittings.
  5. The pool is filled and water-tested before tiling.
  6. Tiles are fixed with compatible adhesive and epoxy grout, and the pool is commissioned.

Pools on podiums or terraces also need the surrounding deck and expansion joints waterproofed as part of the same system.

Which waterproofing system is used for swimming pools?

A watertight concrete shell is the first line of defence. On top of that, a crystalline treatment reduces the permeability of the concrete and a flexible polymer-modified cementitious membrane is applied under the tile adhesive. Tile joints are finished with epoxy grout because it resists pool chemicals. The exact products follow the approved specification.

How do I know if my pool is leaking or just evaporating?

A bucket test compares water loss in the pool with a bucket of pool water placed on the step. If the pool loses noticeably more, there is a leak.

Can a pool be repaired without removing all tiles?

If leaks are at fittings or local cracks, local repairs may be possible. Widespread membrane failure requires tile removal.

Is the waterproofing affected by chlorine?

We use systems compatible with pool water chemistry and epoxy grout in tile joints.
