Expansion Joint Waterproofing Contractor in Mumbai

Flexible waterproofing for movement and construction joints, using Sikadur-Combiflex where specified.

Why expansion joints need flexible waterproofing

Mabani Infra is an expansion joint waterproofing contractor in Mumbai for new construction and for repair of leaking joints. Expansion joints let adjacent parts of a structure move with temperature, shrinkage and load. A rigid waterproofing layer would crack across the joint, so the joint needs a flexible system that moves with the structure and still keeps water out.

Typical applications

  • Movement joints in podium and terrace slabs.
  • Movement joints in basement walls, raft and slabs.
  • Construction joints that need flexible waterproofing.
  • Joints in water-retaining structures, where specified.

Sikadur-Combiflex system

Sikadur-Combiflex is a flexible joint tape system from Sika, used with an epoxy adhesive to bridge movement and construction joints. We use it where the specification calls for it.

Application procedure

  1. Prepare the concrete surface on both sides of the joint so it is sound, clean and suitable for bonding.
  2. Remove weak or contaminated material.
  3. Apply primer or adhesive as required by the approved system.
  4. Install the flexible joint tape, forming the movement zone as the manufacturer instructs.
  5. Treat the tape edges and the central movement zone according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  6. Inspect the installed tape, then protect it before subsequent construction work.

Specification note. Exact joint dimensions, movement capacity, surface preparation and installation details must follow the current manufacturer's technical data sheet and the approved project method statement.

Expansion joint waterproofing: frequently asked questions

Why does an expansion joint leak?

Because the joint keeps moving. Rigid fillers and sealants that are not designed for the movement crack or debond, and water follows the joint into the structure below.

Can a leaking expansion joint be repaired?

Yes. The failed material is removed, the concrete edges are repaired and prepared, and a flexible joint system such as Sikadur-Combiflex is installed where specified. Active leaks may first be cut off by PU injection grouting.

Where are expansion joints waterproofed?

Podium and terrace slabs, basement walls and rafts, joints between buildings or wings, and water-retaining structures.
