Carbon Fibre Wrapping and CFRP Structural Strengthening
Carbon fibre wrapping contractor in Mumbai for columns and beams, applied to a structural engineer's design.
Column and beam strengthening using carbon fibre wrapping
Mabani Infra is a structural strengthening contractor in Mumbai, carrying out carbon fibre wrapping and CFRP structural strengthening alongside RCC structural repair.
Carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) adds tensile capacity to columns and beams without adding significant size or weight. It works only when the substrate, the resin system and the layout are correct.
Engineer's design required. The strengthening layout, number of layers, fibre orientation, anchorage and design calculations must be approved by the structural engineer. The sketches on this page are generic illustrations. They are not an engineered strengthening design.
Application procedure
- Structural assessment by a qualified structural engineer.
- Surface preparation and removal of weak concrete.
- Repair and levelling of the substrate.
- Application of the specified primer and resin.
- Installation and orientation of the carbon fibre fabric.
- Resin saturation and consolidation according to the selected system.
- Curing, inspection and protective finishing.

Carbon fibre wrapping: frequently asked questions
What is carbon fibre wrapping?
Carbon fibre wrapping bonds carbon fibre fabric to a concrete column or beam with an epoxy resin system. The bonded fibre adds strength without significantly increasing the size or weight of the member.
When is CFRP structural strengthening used?
When a structural engineer finds that a member needs more capacity, for example after deterioration, for a change of use or added load, or to correct a design or construction deficiency. The engineer decides whether CFRP is suitable.
Who designs the strengthening?
A qualified structural engineer designs the layout, number of layers, fibre orientation and anchorage. As a structural strengthening contractor we apply it exactly to that design and the manufacturer's system requirements.
Does concrete need to be repaired before carbon fibre wrapping?
Yes. CFRP only works on a sound substrate, so damaged concrete is removed and repaired, and the surface is prepared before the primer and resin are applied.
